Piles, Fistula & Proctology Clinic
About Piles, Fistula & Proctology Clinic
Although anorectal and proctologic disorders have been treated for centuries, modern proctology began to evolve as a distinct surgical specialty in the early 20th century. Early innovators in colorectal surgery laid the foundations for today’s specialized clinics dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, fissures, and other anorectal conditions.
- Hemorrhoid (Piles) management follow-up
- Anal fistula assessment and treatment review
- Anorectal conditions related to inflammatory or liver-associated disease (e.g., portal hypertension hemorrhoids)
- Anal sphincter function and perianal hygiene evaluation

We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of hemorrhoids (piles), anal fistulas, fissures, abscesses, and other anorectal conditions. Both surgical and non-surgical treatments are offered depending on the severity of the condition.
If you experience symptoms such as bleeding during bowel movements, anal pain, swelling, discharge, difficulty controlling bowel movements, or persistent discomfort in the anal area, you should consult a proctologist for evaluation.
Treatment may include lifestyle and dietary modifications, medications, minimally invasive procedures (like rubber band ligation or sclerotherapy), and surgical interventions such as fistulotomy, hemorrhoidectomy, or sphincter-preserving procedures.
Maintaining a high-fiber diet, staying hydrated, practicing good perianal hygiene, avoiding prolonged sitting or straining during bowel movements, and following post-treatment instructions are crucial. Early consultation for any persistent symptoms can prevent complications.
Anorectal Imaging & Diagnostics
Although modern proctology and colorectal surgery only began to develop as a distinct specialty in the early 20th century, pioneers in surgical technique and anorectal physiology laid the foundation for today’s specialized clinics and diagnostic tools.
One of the earliest major breakthroughs in proctology was the understanding of anorectal anatomy and continence mechanisms. For centuries, anal disorders were poorly understood, and treatments were often empirical rather than evidence-based. Early anatomists believed that issues such as incontinence or chronic fistulas were caused solely by “external factors,” overlooking the complex interplay of sphincter function, tissue planes, and local vascular supply.
Advances in imaging and anatomical studies eventually disproved these simplistic theories. Techniques such as anoscopy, proctoscopy, fistulography, and modern CT or MRI scans now allow clinicians to accurately visualize the anal canal, rectum, and surrounding tissues. This precise understanding—similar to Ibn Al-Nafis’s early insights into circulation—formed the scientific basis for targeted, effective treatment of hemorrhoids, fistulas, fissures, and other anorectal conditions.
